Pakistan Lyari Elevated Freight Corridor Construction Project

STATUS

On-going

The Pakistan Lyari Elevated Freight Corridor Construction Project is a proposed urban logistics infrastructure project in Karachi, Pakistan. The project aims to construct an approximately 25 km elevated freight corridor connecting Karachi Port’s West Wharf area to Highway No. 9 along the Lyari River.

The corridor is planned as a dedicated route for freight vehicles, enabling 24-hour cargo movement and improving the efficiency of port-related logistics. By strengthening the connection between Karachi Port and the wider road network, the project is expected to support Pakistan’s logistics system and regional economic connectivity.

The feasibility study includes a review of the project background, technical feasibility, implementation scope, cost estimates, and expected development impacts. It also covers key planning considerations such as route conditions, stakeholder coordination, climate risk, and project sustainability.

Through this project, JHSustain contributes to the assessment of climate change impacts and sustainability considerations for major transport infrastructure. The work supports evidence-based project planning and the development of resilient infrastructure in line with international development cooperation standards.
