ESIA for Lapu-Lapu Coastal Road Project
JHSUSTAIN conducted a Gender and Development (GAD) assessment for the Lapu-Lapu City Coastal Road Project, aligned with the Philippines’ Magna Carta for Women and national GAD guidelines. The assessment examined how the proposed coastal road project could affect women and vulnerable groups.
As part of the assessment, gender-disaggregated data was collected through stakeholder consultations and social surveys. This helped identify potential gender-specific impacts, including displacement risks, income loss, reduced access to services, and changes in daily mobility patterns.
The findings were used to support the Resettlement Action Plan and compensation strategies, ensuring that women’s land use, livelihood activities, and access needs were properly considered. JHSUSTAIN also proposed revisions to site plans to improve safety, mobility, and access to healthcare, education, and childcare facilities.
JHSUSTAIN coordinated with DPWH and barangay officials to promote inclusive stakeholder participation. The team also supported consultation and grievance mechanisms for affected communities through gender-sensitive outreach and engagement approaches.
