Feasibility Study for Nakiwogo Bridge Construction Project
This project supports the feasibility study for the proposed Nakiwogo–Buwaya Bridge near Lake Victoria, connecting Nakiwogo and Buwaya in the Greater Kampala–Entebbe region. The bridge is expected to improve access to Entebbe International Airport, strengthen regional connectivity, and significantly reduce travel time between the two areas.
As part of the study, climate risk and resilience considerations were reviewed to support sustainable infrastructure planning. This included assessing key climate hazards such as rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, flooding, drought, heat stress, and Lake Victoria water-level fluctuations, which may affect bridge design, drainage, access roads, and long-term operation.
The study also examines the project’s technical, economic, environmental, social, and climate-related feasibility to support future implementation and EDCF financing. The proposed bridge includes a 1.5 km crossing, drainage and safety facilities, bridge management systems, and related consulting services.
